Description

Precise Control

The nozzle is the part of the injector that delivers the fuel into the engine cylinder. It is precisely designed to atomize the fuel into a fine spray to ensure that it mixes thoroughly with the air in the combustion chamber. The nozzle features one orifice through which the fuel is sprayed. The fine mist or spray pattern also ensures that the fuel burns efficiently and cleanly, with minimal waste or emissions.

Solenoid Running

The solenoid, an electromagnetic valve that controls the flow of fuel to the nozzle, is usually mounted on the side of the injector and consists of a coil of wire, a plunger, and a spring. When the engine control module (ECM) sends a open signal, the solenoid coil is energized, which causes the plunger to move and open the valve. Fuel is then delivered to the nozzle and sprayed into the combustion chamber. When the ECM sends a closed signal to stop fuel delivery, the solenoid coil is de-energized, and the spring returns the plunger to its closed position, stopping the flow of fuel.

Notes for Replacing Fuel Injectors

  • Check that the fuel injectors are compatible with your model before installation and make sure that the product you received is complete and free of defects.
  • Replace any other components that may have contributed to the failure of the previous injectors, such as fuel filters or fuel pressure regulators.
  • Clean the fuel system to remove any debris or contamination that may have clogged the old injectors, and make sure there is no residual fuel pressure in the system before removing the old injectors.

  • Lubricate the new O-rings or seals with a small amount of clean engine oil before installing the injectors.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s torque specifications and installation instructions carefully to ensure proper seating of the injectors in the fuel rail and cylinder head.
  • After installation, verify that the fuel system pressure and injector operation is within specifications using the appropriate diagnostic tools.

How to Replace

1. Relieve fuel system pressure by disconnecting the fuel pump fuse or relay and running the engine until it stalls.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Locate the fuel injectors in the intake manifold or the cylinder head.
4. Remove the fuel rail that the injectors are attached to, and then remove the fuel injectors from the rail.
5. Install the new fuel injectors into the fuel rail and reattach the fuel rail to the engine.
6. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
7. Turn the ignition on for 20-30 seconds to pressurize the fuel system, and then start the engine.
